The Program

The goal of BEQUAL is to ensure all girls and boys, especially those experiencing disadvantage, complete a quality basic education to achieve literacy, numeracy and other life skills. The program will address education policy, planning and coordination, increased child participation in and access to basic education, teacher education and improved school infrastructure.

Coffey through BEQUAL is currently seeking applications for a Regional Education Officer to be based full time in Pakse, Laos.

The Position

The Regional Program Coordinator (South) will provide day-to-day support to the Regional Program Manager (South) in coordinating and implementing program activities in the southern region. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating, liaising and maintaining a good relationship with a range of stakeholders to support the quality and timely implementation of activities;
  • Providing technical and administrative support on education initiatives across KRAs, such as strategies to support teacher trainees from ethnic communities, textbook trial, skill up pedagogical advisors and in-service teachers
  • Supporting capacity building and professional development of local counterparts that includes PESSs, TTCs and DESBs in relevance to program initiatives; Supporting monitoring activities across the program initiatives that includes field monitoring visits, survey or data collection;
  • Supporting the organisation and logistics for workshops and meetings and assist in facilitation as required.

The Person

Are you an experienced professional in the education sector in Laos with experience working on international projects? We are seeking applicants who have experience planning and coordinating large programs or initiatives in the education sector, with excellent communication and engagement skills and the ability to build capacity of partners and colleagues. Existing networks in the education community, as well as fluency in both Lao and English are required for success.

Applicants will need to be based in Pakse, Laos or be willing to relocate.
