About the role
We are delivering projects in Wellington across private and public sector clients, managing all stages of the project life cycle from scoping, design development, tendering and procurement through to construction, handover, and defects management.
We now need to grow our team and are looking for proactive, capable project managers who remain calm under pressure and have a sense of humour.
Working at Coffey you’ll be lucky enough to work on a range of diverse and interesting projects - from interior refurbishments to house demolitions to major new-builds. For example, we recently worked with Department of Housing, Education and Corrections, we managed the build of a playground in Christchurch as well as sports facilities.
We have vacancies for project managers with different levels of experience who can effectively organise, plan and control resources such as external consultants, internal stakeholders, and contractors to enable the timely delivery of high quality construction projects across the Wellington region.
At the Senior level you will have extensive experience in the successful delivery of both building and infrastructure construction projects from concept to completion spanning a variety of industry sectors. You will have skills in the management of diverse Client groups, consultants and contractors, as well as developed competencies in risk management, procurement and contract administration with change and cost management.
Ideally, you have a professional engineering qualification with New Zealand experience in project management in the building and horizontal infrastructure markets.
At the assistant level you will provide high quality project management and administrative support with a focus on timely and accurate delivery.
Working on various scales of projects you will work on proposals, claims, maintaining project control systems and procedures as well as maintaining project deliverables, as well as carrying out administrative duties to support the project managers:
Your background will include:
- A construction based qualification
- Experience in new build and refurbishment projects
- Extensive proven experience in residential & commercial construction
- Project Management experience
- Experience in construction engineering
- Knowledge and experience of build contracts
- Health and Safety knowledge

You are a great communicator and have an ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, statutory authorities, contractors and end users.
