  • Natural communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills

Our contaminated land consultants around New Zealand are excited about our search for a new team leader. Working with this great team is just one part of a role that also offers you plenty of room to grow – technically, in line management, and in helping to shape Coffey’s future. In this role, you will be committed to providing practical, smart solutions to your clients.

We offer a flexible work environment and recognise the importance of achieving a good balance between work and personal life. We also support your future career development and offer opportunities to access world renowned expertise at the forefront of their specialisation in environmental services. You will work on local property, infrastructure and government projects, and will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Role

As the Contaminated Land Team Leader, you will manage Coffey’s contaminated land business in New Zealand to provide services across a variety of sectors. You will report directly to the New Zealand Environments Lead and ideally be based in Auckland. Note that this role could be based on one of Coffey’s other New Zealand offices for the right candidate.

A major focus of your role will be to maintain and build excellent relationships with existing and new clients by providing a high-quality service that meet our client’s expectations. You will seek out new clients to expand Coffey’s client and geographic reach and contribute to the consolidation of our position as a leading provider of practical solutions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading contaminated land assessment and management services in New Zealand including growing the team and our client base
  • Fulfilling the role of project director and taking overall responsibility for client liaison, the strategic direction of the contaminated land business, as well as its technical and financial performance.
  • Mentoring and coaching technical staff
  • Monitoring all operations for compliance with health and safety requirements, statutory regulations, environmental laws and company policy.

The Person

You will have significant experience, ideally 15 plus years in the environmental sector primarily in contaminated land assessment and management. Your reputation, expertise and in-depth knowledge of the Auckland (and New Zealand) market will be a distinct advantage. Ideally, you will be a certified environmental practitioner (CEnvP).

You’ll have high-level strategic planning and leadership skills.  Intuitive and proactive, you will have a flair for identifying client needs and maximising business growth opportunities.
